IS PINTEREST STILL WORKING FOR BUSINESSES?

There have been many changes on Pinterest during the last year, and some people are now wondering if they should still use it to promote their business.

As all platforms, Pinterest is always evolving and making changes to reflect the users’ behaviour and to create a better experience for the person who’s using it.

That said, we also have to take into consideration a couple of matters.

1. IS YOUR AUDIENCE USING PINTEREST?

At the end of the day, your audience is what determines your business choices, so you need to know if they’re using the platform or not. Most people use Instagram daily, but the majority of Pinterest users are on the platform a couple of times per week.

A good idea would be to ask your audience if they’re using Pinterest regularly (you can create a poll on Instagram, ask them in an email or on a Facebook group).
Note: in case they’re not on Pinterest, just consider that Google indexes Pinterest images, so your audience might find you on Google anyway!

2. DO YOU HAVE SOME VIDEO CONTENT?

There’s no denial that video content is here to stay, and having some kind of videos will definitely benefit your marketing strategy.

What videos can you create?

Here are some ideas:

  • Record yourself talking about your chosen topic

  • Repurpose an Instagram Reel or TikTok video

  • Create a video using the animation feature in Canva

  • Record yourself creating (a recipe, a painting, a dress)

  • Record your surroundings and add text to it

You can create video pins or insert videos in your Idea Pins. Even if Idea Pins don’t currently link, they are promoting followers and profile visits.

3. ARE YOU WILLING TO TRY DIFFERENT TACTICS?

Pinterest is definitely pushing idea pins: they’re getting way more views than regular pins and apparently they’re here to stay.

Right now it’s not possible to schedule them, so you need to post them manually within the platform (ideally at least two to three times per week).

It’s definitely more time consuming than it used to be, but we need to adapt to the changes.

If you answered YES to these questions and you’re willing to do the work, Pinterest is definitely going to help you get more traffic and leads.

Now it’s your turn! Did you find these tips useful?
