WHAT'S WORKING ON PINTEREST IN 2022

Marketing platforms are always changing. What worked one or two years ago, it’s not working anymore and as online business owners we need to keep up with the latest tactics.

I still remember the time when Instagram Stories didn’t exist…and that was just a few years ago!

Pinterest has been changing as well, and the way people use it is always evolving.

So what’s working now on Pinterest and how can you leverage this platform to optimize your results?

1. START TO USE IDEA PINS

There’s no way around it. Pinterest is pushing idea pins a lot. I see it every day in my stats and in my clients’ analytics.

Pinterest is still a great traffic driver, but they now want you to spend more and more time on the platform as well.

That said, idea pins are generating a lot of engagement and followers and when people visit your Pinterest profile, they can click on your website link and see your offers there.

It’s just a slightly longer road and we must adapt to these changes.

2. ONLY SHARE YOUR OWN ORIGINAL CONTENT

A few years ago, Pinterest experts recommended pinning 80% of your content and sharing 20% of other people’s content. It used to work, but now things have changed.

Pinterest has stated that it’s now better to focus on your own quality content.

Creating weekly or at least monthly content is a great way to get in front of your audience and you can share that content to Pinterest.

So you don’t have to worry about curating content anymore!

3. INCLUDE VIDEOS IN YOUR MARKETING

As you probably already know, video content is everywhere right now and Pinterest is no exception. In my experience, videos on Idea Pins are working much better than video Pins.

If you don’t have videos of yourself talking to the camera, just create some slides on Canva and animate them. You can also add some music and there you have a video!

4. KEEP CONSISTENT

If you’re short on time, just stick to the minimum: one static pin per day (if you can schedule it in advance if you want) and one idea pin per week.

I use Tailwind for scheduling my pins and it works great!

This will work much better than publishing a bunch of pins in one go and then forgetting about it for months.

As in many aspects of your life, consistency is the key.

5. MAKE SURE YOUR WEBSITE IS CLEAR AND COHESIVE

Once people land on your website from Pinterest, make sure that they get a cohesive and clear experience.

You want to have a clear branding, messaging, and a clear call to action.

Don’t ask them to do too many things on one single page, otherwise they’ll get confused and leave.

Pro tip: make sure your links work! I can’t tell you how many times I see broken links on websites!

6. KEEP TESTING

As with any other marketing platform, experimenting and testing never gets old. Trying new types of idea pins (adding videos, text, different kinds of images), changing the number of daily pins, and adjusting your strategy is a requirement.

Look at your Analytics dashboard to get all the information you need and you’ll be able to make the best decisions based on the data.
