7 TIPS FOR PRODUCTIVITY

7 TIPS FOR PRODUCTIVITY

Do you wish there were more hours in the day? Being productive is certainly a skill that we can develop and it can give you amazing results.

Here are some tips that I gathered in the last few years and I found to be really useful.

1. PLAN AHEAD

The night before, get your physical or digital planner (whichever suits you best) and schedule everything: the main goals you want to achieve in the day, any appointment, Skype call, downtime, EVERYTHING. In this way, you won’t waste time trying to figure out what to do next.

2. HAVE A MORNING ROUTINE

Routines are gold! They are vital to start the day with the right mindset. Try different actions and then decide what suits you. For example, my routine includes a morning walk, a podcast and a smoothie. Other ideas could be meditating, journaling, listening to music, reading a book…just try and see what works for you!

3. MASTER TIME BLOCKING

This tip will save you A LOT of time. Take a task, think about how much time you’ll need to complete and then schedule it on your calendar. If you focus on it and eliminate distractions, you’ll get so much done by the end of the day!

The BIGGEST SECRET? Plan your tasks in order of importance and don’t start the second one until you have finished the first one. Easier said than done, I know, but I’m so happy with myself when I do it!

4. GET RID OF DISTRACTIONS

Emails and social media play a big part in our online businesses, but they can be real time suckers! When I need to be focused on a certain task, I take my phone and put it in airplane mode, NO DISTRACTIONS! I'm also trying to check my emails only three times a day, I'm still far from it, but that's my goal!

5. SET BOUNDARIES

Being your own boss means you decide your schedule, and that means being clear on your working hours. If you decide you only work until 6 pm, that email you received at 7 pm will have to wait until tomorrow. Same goes for weekend and holidays. It can be really tough at the beginning to separate work and life, but your mental sanity comes first!

6. CREATE A COMFORTABLE SPACE

Nobody can really be productive in a dark and noisy environment. Make sure you have a tidy and cozy place you can work from, however small.

For example, I’m lucky enough to have loads of daylight, a journal to jot down new ideas and a mug of tea by my side.

7. LEARN TO DELEGATE AND/OR AUTOMATE

You can’t be really productive if you’re always managing every single aspect of your business. As soon as you can, delegate the tasks you don’t enjoy and you’ll soon have so much more time! If you’re not yet in a position to outsource, try to automate as much as you possibly can. For example, you can automate a welcome email sequence for your list, or social media. In your personal life, you can automate your bills for example.
